Oceans will part

Went on my Cambodia mission trip last week. The team was really amazing. I am amazed at how they serve one another cheerfully without complaining. It's really nice to feel the positive energy around. The time there was really a time of opening my eyes, to see how another very different part of the world is like.
In Singapore, you have all your houses made for you, your veggies and rice available from the supermarket with a sweep of the shelf. That's what a twing of capitalism has done for Singapore. However over at Cambodia, people build their own houses and plant their own crops. I really don't understand what is the government thinking. Many public utilities like water and electricity are limited. No one cleans the streets and the roads and pavements are in need of repair. People wear masks around because of all the dust and sand that remains on the ground and gets swept up into the air.
But in some strange way, I like the people and culture there. Messy roads but hey, you don't always need to follow the road laws man. Dangerous but flexible. Need a toilet? Perhaps you could knock on the doors of one of the villagers to ask. Hey there's a commotion over there, and soon you'll see a crowd coming in to join the fun. You don't have to be shy, because we are all part of the village and there are no barricades. The children are always happy to have visitors around. They welcome you and send you off so cheerfully. Strangely the village children are more well-behaved then the school kids. Haha.
First day back in Singapore already and I am already missing the people there. I still wish to visit New Zealand, as inspired by LOTR, but all the more I wish to go back to Indochine someday. And hopefully there will be changes that are for the better. I'm so glad to see kids who have lost their parents, and yet found God as their heavenly father and a sheltered place to stay at. Not everyone is so fortunate though. Anyone up for children ministry?

I'll never forget how the children performed the song 'Oceans will part' for us. Until now I feel touched whenever I remember them.

A few many things

It's just a few more days to my trip to Cambodia. The few other things that remain on my mind include the darling gms, the campus camp, and of course, the earth shattering news. The earth is not shattered but I have a few shattered feelings. But many things to be done. Me looks forward to Dec and the new year ahead. New year plans include learning to drive. Wish me 4 wheels.

Lab results

Can't believe I was infected by more than one virus. Maybe even more than 2. Who knows? Better not share drinks with anyone. To think that all this time when I have been promisciously sharing drinks with my friends... it has probably spread so many germs! The only thing that my medical practitioner could say was that I was suay. Anyway. Hope my antibodies protect from reactivation next time

Obama had a landslide victory. It's so amazing. Quite a milestone for America. Time will tell how our new American president fares during such times. I wonder who's gonna be the new vice president.

Yesterday something interesting came up on the news
偷吃车资罚款条例 偷吃车资者逐月减少
Wa. Luckily I never get caught leh.
Huh. U never pay the fare ah.
No. Sometimes I eat on the train or bus.
Tou chi means that you never pay the fare la!
O! So funny. Why they use the term tou chi. Haha.

An event that runs through my head from time to time. I was publicizing the laying of bricks during vision rally but forgot to lay one myself... although I did meant to. I was just so busy running around. Isn't it funny how you're working for a cause and end up missing out on living it out on your own as well. I'll starting to miss the fundamentals again... Been thinking about it.

Sleepy

Darn. Been feeling rather tired these few days. After coming home from work yesterday I watched TV for an hr and then fell asleep till 9+. And then went back to bed again at 10+. My mum says that I'm fortunate to be able to sleep so much, which is true cos insomia sucks. But I feel rather unproductive. Hope to fully recover soon!
At least I have good appetite. Good sign. Just remember the times when I kept puking and lost 3kg. Eating food is good =) Been taking extra vitamins and jabs. Going to Cambodia soon. Need to be healthy!
